iMPACT
iMPACT Dance Company members train between seven to nine hours a week along with additional reparatory rehearsals. Dancers are trained in ballet, contemporary lyrical, and jazz. Throughout the year dancers learn various pieces that are performed at the iMPACT concert and the Evening of Dance Concert. These pieces are choreographed by Artistic Director Jamie Hancock along with other renowned, high-profile choreographers such as Donyelle Jones from 'So you think you can Dance' & Martha Kelly-Fierro.
Jamie Hancock - Director of iMPACT Jamie Hancock began dancing at the age of five in Stockton, CA and has trained extensively in jazz, lyrical, hip-hop and ballet. At the age of twelve, Jamie began dancing on a competitive dance team winning numerous awards from various competitions such as Tremaine, Dupree, LA Danceforce and I Love Dance. During the summer of 1992, Jamie did several weeks of training at the EDGE Performing Arts center in Hollywood. In 1993, she received the United Dance Association All Star Award. In the summer of 1999 Jamie worked as an instructor and judge for the United Dance Association. Jamie continued her dance training at California State University Sacramento and in 1998/1999 was a member of the California State University Sacramento dance team. In 2001, Jamie danced as a member of the Jazee Dance Company and enjoyed performing in numerous shows. In December of 2001, Jamie graduated from California State University, Sacramento with her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre. Jamie began teaching in 1999 and joined Hawkins School of Performing Arts in 2006. While teaching at Hawkins School of Performing Arts she choreographed "Hide & Seek" and "Wild Horses" which won several top overall awards at competitions. Jamie truly enjoys working with students of all ages and enjoys sharing her passion and love for dance with others. |
